Remembering Dilla..
In a few days it’ll be the 1st death anniversary of my all-time favorite musician, J Dilla (aka Jay Dee). If you aren’t familiar with this genius, you really need to school yourself and recognize the absolute brilliance and precision. He is the ultimate to me and there will be no other.

I was in HS, studying for Lord knows what and listening to WERS, 88.9@Night out of Boston and heard Get Dis Money. I remember being totally stuck by the clap and the bassline and everytime I hear it, even now, it takes me back to the first time. I remember thinking, “Dag.. sorta sounds like Tribe.” Little did I know at the time..
Dilla is why I love hiphop. Thank you Jay.
