A few years ago I went to a concert @ Radio City with a pretty kick ass lineup: The Roots, Mos Def, J*Davey, Erykah Badu and with surprise guests, Slum Village, Dave Chappelle, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Bilal, and Jay-Z. That concert was contained within a few hours. Rock the Bells on the other hand.. is an all day affair! (My feet are killin me right, you don’t even know..) Could Rock the Bells 2008 knock Radio City from the top spot!? You be the judge:
Viewed Lineup: Wale, MURS, Kidz in the Hall, Dead Prez, Immortal Technique, De La Soul, Raekwon & Ghostface, Method Man & Redman, Slick Rick, Keith Murray, DJ Kool, EPMD, Mos Def, Nas, Jay-Z, and A Tribe Called Quest.
Unbelievable.. Hear a version of The Notorious B.I.G.’s classic Ready to Die album before the sample clearances, beat switches, and verse chops. One word describes this album.. DOPE. Take a listen.
I saw Skillz at Virgil’s BBQ the other day, so instead of whining that I didn’t even big him up for his new mixtape, I thought I’d help spread the love instead. With the help of J.Period and Don Cannon, Skillz laces his vocals on some of the dopest beats from the 90s (Glamour & Glitz, WHAT!?). It’s free so go get it!
